Corporate yacht events in Puerto Vallarta: how to brand and decorate a boat the right way
A yacht is the most photogenic venue on the bay for a company event — and the toughest one to print for: wind, sun, salt and surfaces you cannot drill. Here is what we have learned producing event branding for the water.

Every season our shop gets orders that start the same way: "it's for an event on a boat". A convention closing with a sunset cruise, a sales incentive trip, a product launch off Los Arcos, a construction firm's year-end party. Puerto Vallarta has few settings as photogenic as a yacht at golden hour, and companies know it. What many don't know is that dressing a boat is nothing like dressing a ballroom: wind, sun, salt spray and the owner's rules change what you can print, how it is installed and how long it lasts.
This guide collects what we have learned producing banners, vinyl, stickers, shirts and signage for events on the water. It starts where it should — choosing the right vessel among the Puerto Vallarta yacht charters available — and ends with a checklist so your brand shines in every photo and the boat goes back to the marina without a single tape mark.
Why a yacht for a company event
A hotel ballroom is forgotten by Monday; an afternoon at sea with your team or your clients is remembered for years. A yacht offers three things no other venue in Vallarta combines: it is private, it is venue and excursion at once (Banderas Bay, the Marietas Islands or Los Arcos as the backdrop) and it creates content that guests share on their own — with your logo in frame, if the branding is well planned. And because an owner-direct boat rental is booked whole, you never share the deck with strangers.
It works for very different formats:
- Incentive trips and conventions: the perfect closing night for a congress at a Hotel Zone or Nuevo Vallarta resort.
- Client hospitality: an afternoon cruise with your ten most important clients is worth more than any holiday gift.
- Product launches and presentations: with sea and mountains behind you, the launch photos take care of themselves.
- Team building: swimming, snorkelling and lunch on board — no offices, no screens.
- Year-end parties and company anniversaries: from 20 to 150 people, depending on the boat.
Boat first: size, marina and format
Branding is designed for a specific boat, so the right order is: headcount, the departure marina closest to the group's hotel, duration — and only then the vessel. Booking yacht rentals in Puerto Vallarta directly from their owners lets you compare real capacity and pricing before committing. These examples come from the fleet listed today, sorted by group size:
- Up to 20 guests: the Hatteras 58 Florero (Marina Nuevo Vallarta, 58 ft, up to 20 people, from $485 USD per hour) is listed with a premium bar and a private-events focus — ideal for client hospitality.
- 30 to 35 guests: the Bertram 60 (Marina Vallarta, up to 35, from $1,250 USD per 4 hours) or the Custom C45 "Margarita days" (Marina Vallarta, up to 35, from $2,350 USD per day), both party yachts. The Custom 45 Party Catamaran with a waterslide (up to 30, from $1,666 USD per 4 hours) adds fun for younger teams.
- 45 to 50 guests: the Cheoy Lee 90 (Marina Vallarta, up to 45, from $3,600 USD per 4 hours), the Hatteras 75 (Marina Nuevo Vallarta, up to 50, from $2,490 USD per day) or the Strega 120 (Marina Vallarta, up to 50, from $8,000 USD per 4 hours) at the luxury end.
- More than 100 guests: the Canuwa II 72-ft catamaran (Marina Nuevo Vallarta, up to 120 people, from $105 USD per person) and the Party 90 Custom Catamaran (Marina Nuevo Vallarta, up to 150 people, from $3,100 USD per day) are built precisely for big celebrations.
These are the "from" rates each listing shows; the final figure depends on date, hours, food and drinks, and the owner confirms it. For large events, go straight to the catamaran charters in Puerto Vallarta, where the widest decks are.
The golden rule: nothing that drills, sticks or stains
A yacht is an asset worth hundreds of thousands of dollars with delicate surfaces: gelcoat, teak, polished stainless steel, marine vinyl upholstery. No owner will accept nails, staples, double-sided tape on teak or permanent adhesives. Everything we print for a boat has to meet three conditions:
- It is tied, not stuck. Cable ties, bungee cord or line on rails; suction cups or static-cling vinyl on glass.
- It comes off with no residue. If anything is applied, it is low-tack removable vinyl or static-cling film, which holds without glue.
- It handles wind. What is a banner in a ballroom becomes a sail at sea. Air has to pass through.
Always get written approval from the owner for the areas you will use. It is part of any well-run private yacht charter in Puerto Vallarta and avoids arguments at disembarkation.
Materials that survive the sea
All year long we see what Vallarta's sun and salt air do to signage; at sea the effect is multiplied. These are the materials we recommend for an event on board:
Mesh banners for the rails
The star piece. Mesh vinyl has thousands of tiny perforations that let the wind through, so it does not balloon or yank the rail. We print it with large-format printing using outdoor inks and add grommets every 30–50 cm for cable ties. A regular solid PVC banner on a moving yacht either tears or becomes a hazard.
Static-cling vinyl for glass and mirrors
It clings by static, with no adhesive: it goes on and comes off in seconds and leaves nothing behind. Perfect for logos on the saloon's glass doors, bathroom mirrors or the flybridge windscreen.
Foam PVC and corrugated plastic for light signage
For welcome signs, bar menus or directions ("restroom", "swim zone", "no drinks on the flybridge") we use 3 mm foam PVC or corrugated plastic: light, waterproof and scratch-free if they fall. No MDF and no paper foam board — humidity warps them within the hour. For something more formal, our signage team works with outdoor-rated finishes.
Waterproof labels and stickers
Custom labels for water, beer or wine bottles that will sit in coolers full of melting ice must be printed on laminated vinyl or polypropylene, never paper. The same goes for cooler, cup or tumbler stickers. We make them under labels, stickers and promo items.
Textiles: shirts, caps and towels
The branding that shows up most in photos is what your guests are wearing. Long-sleeve sun shirts, caps, bandanas and printed or embroidered beach towels are useful during the cruise and go home afterwards. We produce them in textile printing and uniforms — book production early if you need hundreds of pieces.
Where to put the brand: a yacht map
Thinking of the boat as a photo set makes it easier to decide what to print. These are the areas that pay off most, from most to least visible in photos and video:
- Stern rail: the background of every group shot when boarding and leaving. A horizontal mesh banner with logo and event line.
- Bow side rails: they appear in every drone shot and every sunbathing photo. Two long mesh banners, one per side.
- Bar and buffet: printed table skirt, PVC menu and custom bottle labels.
- Saloon entrance: static-cling vinyl on the glass door with the event name.
- Boarding dock: a backdrop or welcome sign at the gangway, if the marina allows it — the arrival photo everyone posts.
- Guests and crew: shirts, caps, wristbands and waterproof badges.

Decor on board: less is more (and tied down)
At sea, every loose object is an object that can fly. Before buying anything, ask the owner what decor the corporate yacht rental in Puerto Vallarta you chose allows. For decor we recommend:
- A short palette: two brand colours plus white. The sea and sky already supply the blue.
- Weighted centrepieces: jars with sand, stones or water — never tall, light arrangements.
- Balloons, confetti and paper streamers: no. They blow away and end up in the ocean. Many crews ban them, and rightly so.
- Battery lighting: for sunset events, rechargeable LED string lights tied to rails and biminis.
- Branded cushions and throws: printed covers placed over existing seats, without removing or permanently covering the original upholstery.
For a night event like the one in the photo, think about pieces that read in low light: white on dark, large lettering and, if there is room, a small battery-lit sign. Compact 3D and illuminated signs with a heavy base work very well on the bar.
Production timeline for a yacht event
The hard part of these events is not printing — it is coordination. This is the timeline we propose to clients:
- Four to six weeks out: book the boat. In high season (November to April) dates go fast; browsing Puerto Vallarta Yacht Charters & Rentals early gives you room to choose.
- Three weeks out: get photos, measurements and approved areas from the owner; confirm headcount and format (food, bar, music).
- Two weeks out: finalise banner, vinyl, label and textile designs; approve colour proofs.
- One week out: production and printing; pack an install kit (cable ties, line, scissors, suction cups).
- Event day: install at the marina an hour before boarding, with the crew present; remove on return, before guests leave.
One caveat: shop lead times depend on quantity and season; for textiles in volume or special pieces, the sooner you write to us, the better.
Safety rules that are not negotiable
- Maximum capacity: respect the passenger limit on each boat's listing; every one of the private yacht charters in Puerto Vallarta states it. It is not a suggestion.
- Life jackets in view: no decor may cover life jackets, life rings, fire extinguishers or exits.
- Clear walkways: banners go on the outside of rails or flat against them, never across a passage.
- Captain's call: if the captain asks to remove a piece because of wind, it comes down. The sea is in charge.
- Marietas Islands and protected areas: they have their own access rules; check with the operator before promising guests a stop.
How much to budget
A yacht event budget has two parts. The first is the boat, which depends on size and hours; in today's listed fleet there are options from $485 USD per hour for a 20-guest yacht up to $3,100 USD per day for a 150-guest catamaran. The second is branding, which depends on how many pieces and of what type. Comparing several Banderas Bay yacht charters before you commit helps balance both lines. To quote it we need three things: headcount, photos and measurements of the boat areas, and the date. With that we build an itemised proposal so you can choose what stays and what goes.
A good rule: spend first on what shows up in photos (stern banner, shirts, dock backdrop) and then on the rest. To explore more vessels, the luxury yachts in Puerto Vallarta page gathers the top-tier boats, and Puerto Vallarta yachts shows the whole fleet.
Final checklist
- Boat booked and confirmed in writing, with enough capacity.
- Branding areas approved by the owner, with photos and measurements.
- Mesh banners with grommets and plenty of cable ties (bring double).
- Static-cling vinyl for glass; no permanent adhesive.
- Labels and stickers on laminated vinyl, ice-proof.
- Branded shirts, caps or towels for guests and staff.
- Light PVC signage for bar, restroom and swim zone.
- Install kit and one person responsible for setup and removal.
- Marina permission if there will be a dock backdrop.
If you are planning yours, step one is choosing the vessel through boat rental by owner, where owners list their boats with photos, capacity and rates. Step two is writing to us: at Rotularte we produce all the event branding, from the stern banner to the label on the last bottle.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I put my company logo on a chartered yacht?
Yes, with the owner's approval and always with pieces that are tied on or applied without residue: mesh banners with cable ties on rails, static-cling vinyl on glass, and textiles. No nails, staples or permanent adhesive.
What kind of banner works on a boat?
A mesh (micro-perforated) banner, because wind passes through it. A regular solid PVC banner balloons like a sail, pulls on the rail and can tear while the boat is moving.
How many people fit on a yacht for a corporate event in Puerto Vallarta?
It depends on the boat: there are yachts for 20, party yachts for 30 to 50 and catamarans for 120 or even 150 guests. Always respect the maximum capacity on each listing.
How far ahead should I book?
The boat, four to six weeks ahead, especially between November and April. Branding design should be locked two weeks before the event to leave production time.
Can we use balloons or confetti on a yacht?
It is not advisable: they blow away, end up in the sea and many crews ban them. Decorate with tied-down printed pieces, textiles and battery LED lights instead.
How much does it cost to charter a yacht for a company event?
The owner-listed fleet has options from $485 USD per hour for 20 people and catamarans for 150 from $3,100 USD per day. Each owner confirms the final price based on date, hours and services.
